The Million Dollar Breakaway is open to all female breakaway ropers. No membership is required to enter, but every contestant must have qualified through one of the approved qualification pathways: the VRQ Leaderboard, First Chance Qualifier, Summer Qualifier, Fall Qualifier, Oklahoma's Richest, Last Chance Qualifier, Buy Back Round, or PWR.
The 2026 field is built through the First Chance Qualifier, Summer Qualifier, Fall Qualifier, Oklahoma's Richest, the VRQ Leaderboard, the Last Chance Qualifier, the Buy Back Round, and PWR challenger positions. The full schedule, advancement totals, and finals path are outlined on the How to Qualify page.
The Championship runs November 25-29, 2026 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona. Directions, hotel recommendations, stalling and RV parking are all on the Venue page.
VRQ Nomination is $150. The Last Chance Qualifier is $500 with 70% payback. The Buy Back Round is $500 per entry (you may enter twice) with 50% payback. Semi-Finals entry is $750 with 70% payback. The Finals have no additional fee after Semi-Finals. Full fee breakdown is on the Entry Fees page.
Qualifier draws go up the morning of each qualifier event. Semi-Finals draws post Tuesday evening before the Wednesday round. Finals draws are rolling and post before each nightly performance during Championship week. Check the Draws page for the current order of go.
The Championship is broadcast nationally on FOX Sports. Tickets to attend in person at WestWorld of Scottsdale are announced on the Tickets page closer to the event.
Contestants must be mounted and ready when their name is called. Failure to report when called results in a no-time for that run. Stay within hearing range of the PA during the performance and listen for the two contestants called before you.
Breakaway roping requires the rope to catch the calf cleanly around the neck. The rope is tied to the saddle horn with a breakable string, and the clock stops the instant that string breaks away. A fast clean run is what wins.
Standard western attire: long-sleeve shirt (tucked in), jeans, boots, and a cowboy hat. Back numbers are issued at check-in and must be worn visibly during every run.
The High Money title is determined by cumulative earnings across all qualifier events and the Finals, rather than the Finals performance alone. As a transition measure, earnings from the 2025 First Chance Qualifier do not count toward 2026 High Money standings. Starting 2027, all qualifier earnings including the First Chance Qualifier will count.
